Bertie turned three in August and a close friend of mine gave him three books, this is her standard present, but every time she picks winners. This time it was Dinosaurs Love Underpants, Aliens Love Underpants and Spider Sandwiches. Bertie loves all of them and more importantly I love them, my heart sinks when I’m asked to read Postman Pat or Thomas the Tank Engine for the hundredth time. Postman Pat should have been sacked years ago for incompetence and I don’t care that Thomas and Co are really useful engines.
The books he was given are being sold in Asda as part of a range £7 for two. Even though the saving isn’t a lot, the books available are cheaper here than Amazon plus postage. So if you have a little boy and not Spider Sandwiches on your bookshelf take a look next time you’re in store. The selection isn’t just limited to younger children but older children as well, including classics such of Fantastic Mr Fox, The Worst Witch and new ones (probably not new just after my time) Diary of a Wimpy Kid and The Vampire Diaries. Be warned if you read Aliens Love Underpants to your child, getting dressed in the morning will take longer as they’ll consider it essential to check their pants are free of Aliens!
I won’t use the ‘C’ word in September but they would make excellent presents for a certain occasion dated in December. I’ve just purchased Zog and The Dinosaur That Pooped A Planet and I think I’m more excited about them than Bertie.
