Green is the word – toys made from recycled milk containers

One of the reasons that I love living in Germany is the strict recycling legislation and super Deutsch rules surrounding what I can throw in the rubbish bin and what has to be separated into paper, plastics, bio and glass. As such, recycling our waste has become a way of life rather than another chore to add into the daily grind.

So when I stumbled across this new brand a few weeks ago I couldn’t have been more impressed. Admittedly I initially purchased it from an American retailer so the “100% made in the USA” tagline had more of a pack to its punch but the brand ethos and social responsibility is one that I wish more worldwide plastic toy manufacturers shared. I was delighted to see that and London/Bristol based Born have jumped on the bandwagon and are selling them too.

Green Toys Inc. 1

Green Toys Inc. makes an awesome line of classic children’s toys constructed from recycled plastic and other environmentally friendly materials. This helps reduce fossil fuel use and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improving the overall health and happiness of the planet. They’re free from toxic paints and harmful chemicals (no BPA, Phthalates or PVC) and are truly local creations. Every step in the process, from milk container recycling to toy production to final assembly, occurs in California.

Green Toy Submarine

I (well James made the executive decision) bought the Submarine for Joseph and although it’s been hidden away for Christmas, I can already tell it will be a firm bathtime favourite. The recycled plastic is dense and tough and the cardboard packaging is minimal to support its environmental mission. The top opens for easy cleaning so no nasty mould build-up and the colours are bright and inviting. Prices start at £7.00 and the toys are for 6 months +.

Green Toys Inc.2

I know that this is just the first of many purchases from their collection. Definitely a winner in the Vest household.
