Fortunately my children take after my husband and have lashes that rival those of camels. I on the other hand, was not blessed with them. Is it wrong to feel a teensy weensy bit jealous? I’m pleased my daughter has managed to inherit them because I have a school friend who did and didn’t need to buy mascara. Ever. Compared to the amount I spend, she must be saving herself a small fortune.
I remember talking to my Makeup Artist for my wedding and she asked me what eyes I wanted? My response “more Cheryl Cole than Kate Middleton”. I don’t do natural lashes, I like them big. But fake lashes you apply yourself are hideously fiddly and I still get it wrong.
I did consider getting fake permanent lashes but then I found out the necessary upkeep! I have a few spindly ones I want to keep so I’d rather emphasise these than have none at all. I thought I’d be spending my life taking 10 minutes every morning to apply mascara attempting to make them luscious, thick and long but then I tried the Moodstruck 3D Fiberlashes by Younique. (Younique is an American brand that has been launched recently in the UK and is similar to Avon).
When I first opened the packaging, I did think, “Ok, it comes in a fancy box, similar to a glasses case, is it all show and no substance?” I did my research and found that people either love it or hate it. But I’m in the LOVE camp. It’s so simple and easy, and the results are amazing.
Two tubes make the Moodstruck 3D Fiberlashes. One is the Fiberlashes, essentially little bits that you apply to emphasise your own, then the transplanting gel (or what I would consider the mascara). You apply one coat of the transplanting gel and then the fibers, making sure that you do one eye at a time. The fibers attach to the transplanting gel so you need to make sure that it’s still wet so they can attach properly.
You can keep going with the transplanting gel then fibers, the transplanting gel then fibers, until you get the look that you want. It’s important to note that you must finish with the transplanting gel to secure the final fibers in place. I would also advise to only apply the Fiberlashes to the ends; if you start further down you run the risk of them getting into your eye and irritating you.
My next thought (once I realised how amazing my eyes looked), was will it last the day? That is the true test, normally mascara is gone by dinner however this was still very much present.
All in all a great product. The downside is that once you’ve used it, you won’t go back to your original one. I’m impressed that it’s £23.00; no more than other premium brands.
So for me I won’t faffing about with fake lashes when I’m about to attend a big event. I’ll just be adding another layer of Fiberlashes. Easy and simple as that.
