Now that the weather is warming up, it’s time to reconsider the denim in our wardrobes. Flares have been making a big comeback back and this season they continue to be on trend and in the shops. My early 2000s jeans collection is full of flares and bootcuts so I’m sorted there. It’s more the boyfriend and girlfriend varieties that I’m missing.
Having now bought three pairs of boyfriend jeans my top tip is that they stretch. Go old school and size down. There’s no lycra/elastine so after one wear they’re like jeans used to be. Baggy. Well, even baggier than they were to start. If you sign up to Gap emails, they always send a 20-30% sales code. They’ve got 20% off now for first time customers. Don’t pay full price, there’s always one on its way (Stateside gap.com too).
I’m not sure why everywhere styles their jeans with heels. It’s hardly how most of us wear them daily. I’d much prefer to see them with trainers, skaters or the Irish Dancing type shoes that are super fashionable right now. I have these H&M ones below. I love them. But they stretch like you wouldn’t believe. I have the 27 and would probably need the 25 and I’m really not that small. Boyfriend low jeans. I love these Girlfriend ones too.
These below are the M&S Flares that everyone is raving about. I’m not 100% sure about them. I’m kind of liking the patchwork girlfriend ones though! Since I found these for the blog, I’ve seen M&S marketing them aggressively, so they must think they’re kind of special as well!
Finally, I have these Ralph Lauren Denim & Supply ones. The price in £££ made my eyes water. I paid less than half of this in $$$ so about £60ish or so. They stretch. What a surprise. I bought a 27 although the 26 fitted. I just wasn’t sure. Lesson learned. Go small.
Happy jeans shopping. I hope I’ve inspired some purchases!
