It was such a thrill to open an email recently from Dawn and Rachel at Meals our Kids Love! to say that they loved our blog so much that they’d nominated us for the Starlight Blogger Award. Thank you so much for your kind, thoughtful and hugely generous words about our Blog. We really do appreciate you thinking of us!
The original creator of the award, Carolina Russo identified it as for “..the bloggers that brings daily light into your soul with their creativity the blogs you love to read, listen and visit!”
Wow! We actually do that?!
We’ve been following Dawn and Rachel’s blog too for some time and love how down to earth they are in their approach. Endeavouring to find smart, innovative and imaginative solutions to one of the most frustrating aspects of being a mum; meal times!
So here are the rules for the STARLIGHT Blogger Award:
- Thank the giver and link their Blog to your post
- Answer the 3 questions given to you
- Please Pass the award on to 6 or more other Bloggers of your choice and let them know that they have been nominated by you.
- Include the logo of the award in a post or on your Blog please never alter the logo and never change the rules
Here are our answers to Dawn and Rachel’s questions:
1. We’d love to hear how your blog got started. Describe the moment you had the idea for your website?
Amy had the idea originally. The Blog has developed and changed over time but the initial concept was to identify the best parent and child related deals and sales of the day. Now we just talk about ourselves. A lot.
2. What’s your Number One, Fail-Safe, Tried-and-Trusted meal for the kids?
Amy: Spaghetti Bolognaise. I can easily hide numerous veggies and Bertie loves pasta of any sort, especially with cheese on top.
Lucy: Creme fraîche, broccoli and bacon pasta. Or vegetable and noodle stir fry. Basically anything that has noodles or pasta in it!
3. If you only had yourself to cook for, what would you make?
Amy: Pan fried sea bass, served with samphire fried in butter and garlic, asparagus and green beans. All with added butter, of the salted variety.
Lucy: Rib eye steak. Utterly rare and bloody. Fried onions, mushrooms and homemade chips, cooked in goose fat.
4. Who inspires you?
Amy: Victoria Beckham. I’d like to be as thin as her and have all her clothes. And being married to David Beckham wouldn’t be too much of a hardship.
Lucy: My Military friends that go it alone without their family and husbands for months on end during deployments that get extended and extended. In a foreign country a lot of the time as well to boot.
Here are our questions for our nominees:
1. What’s your favourite city?
3. What would you refuse to eat even if your life depended on it?
4. What happened on the best day of your life?
And our nominees are:
Casey’s tagline is Running, Food and Coffee which couldn’t appeal more to me if it tried. I love reading her half marathon updates and general life musings
A blog about a Finnish-English family’s experience of life and people in Japan. The cultural observations are fascinating!
James has challenged himself to make 100 recipes and blog about them during 2015. No mean feat when he works by day as a Teacher in Canada.
Keri is a UAE ex-pat by way of Melbourne and London. We love her posts about life in Abu Dhabi, and the advice she gives for traveling with a brood of children.
A paradise portfolio of recipes that have beautiful photos and simple to follow instructions.
Amy and I have known Lara ever since I worked with her over 10 years ago. Her blog is a hugely entertaining transcription of motherhood and it’s utterly compelling reading.
Take a look; I hope you enjoy these Blogs as much as we do.
